Up the Garden Path

To the rear of the new extension is a long, straight and very substantial concrete flagstoned walkway which will eventually connect with the external stairs at the south end.  To the north however it simply ends where the extension ends and failed to connect with the other garden pathways.

Not only that, there was quite a  large hump in the ground which made muddy access hazardous as well.  The land needed lowering and a proper path was needed.  Thanks to some heroic work by someone a good deal younger and fitter than I, today saw the construction of the new pathway - and very fine it looks too:


The steelwork to the right of the path is some of the fixings for the rain-screen cladding, soon to be back in place we hope.  Te extent of the hand digging needed to create the path can be seen.  Appropriately the path is topped off with local limestone.

Also today, Yorkshire Dales National Park rangers were hard at work on paths on the Three Peaks route:
